Yet Another Wildy Fulfilling Waste of Time

March 12th, 2009

Here’s a fun little documentary for your weekend. As in all documentaries of it’s kind, the main point is a bit strange, and the path used to get there very…. let’s say “windy.” However, I’m completely onboard with the resulting goal: get rid of the ‘Federal’ Reserve. It’s time to re-establish public asset backing for the dollar. Also, it’s time to eliminate the federal income tax.

Yes, the government DOES have the authority to steal your money. It doesn’t make it any less immoral.

Who Killed the Electric Car?

December 2nd, 2008

Here is a documentary conspiracy (via Youtube) about the GM electric car that was produced years ago and then stripped back from society and destroyed. Apparently GM burned the plans, destroyed the production facility, lobatamized the engineers, and started producing cobalts instead, because the new electric car line (the Volt) is a far cry from the consumer adoptability factor of the original EV1. I’m still not convinced that it’s a good idea to double the cost of engineering in a vehicle by requiring it to have an internal combustion engine AND an electric motor.

This gets filed under conspiracy, since there are some simple and basic facts that are ignored or spun in order to set the premise for the remainder of the film. For instance, say all you want about the wonderful electric car and the “long” waiting list of customers, but the reality is that the cars are expensive, and while they are very well performing cars during their operation, the time of operation (their range in a single charge) is very short. It’s a hard sell. Plus… why sell 80 glorious electric cars, when you can sell a million cobalts. Of course, anyone caught selling an cobalt ought to spend an eternity in the darkest region of hell, but that’s beside the point.

Cobalt Owners and Sales People: I’m kidding, of course. Cobalts aren’t all that bad. We should all get together sometime and make fun of Smart Car owners (who pay roughly the same as cobalt owners for their cars, and get roughly the same mileage per gallon, but look ridiculous in their silly clown cars and can’t convince their coworkers to ride with them to lunch (and even if they could, they could only drive one person)).

I’m Just Not Convinced, and I Probably Never Will Be

November 16th, 2008

Global Warming. I’m so sick of hearing those two words. I think it’s because there is so much stigma associated with them. I am supposed to accept the “fact” that the world is warming by cause of human interaction on this planet such that if I do not allow a small group of fanatics to take my money to solve the problem this world will not be inhabitable in the somewhat near future. Don’t get me wrong… if the planet was being destroyed, and I could give half of my income to fix the problem, I would, but the evidence would need to be a bit more convincing then what is being presented today.

And isn’t it funny, how quickly a large majority of people can be convinced of such a bizzarre story, and how harsh the reaction is? I’m beginning to worry that laws will be passed in the near future prohibiting the consumption of chili in order to cut down on human emission of greenhouse gasses. I’ve often considered starting a business that collects carbon dioxide gas from the atmosphere and compresses it in large storage tanks. I would charge normal everyday people, people like Sean Penn and Ben Affleck, just yer average, intelligent, global warming aware, concerned citizen for “carbon credits.” I’d request large volumes of cash via government grants from every nation in the world. I’d be so rich, I could fly my own private plane from my tax sheltered third world country where I pay thousands of children 35 cents an hour to collect those darned gasses, I could fly that plane… well… just about anywhere. And, I’d get a free “green” pass from Hollywood and all the smelly treehuggers since I’m so busy saving the planet. Oh man… That would be fantastic…

But the truth is not so clear to me. I’m not just going to listen to Al Gore and accept the fate of de-industrialization of our planet. Besides, we have the US Secretary of Treasury and the Federal Reserve to do that. Before I sell out for Al Gore, I think it would be nice if someone could answer the people who have pointed out that those responsible for collecting climate data have sneaked in a few corrections for the last few decades, resulting in data showing that the 1930’s have the claim to the hottest decade in recorded history. Also, we learned last winter that “global warming” must not be that bad since most of world recorded record low temperatures and snow coverage.

Maybe I’m just sick of ridiculous conspiracy theories, and I think the conspirators are just a bunch of idiots? I’m so confused, I couldn’t really tell you.
